God Still Goes After the One

There was a season in my life when I stopped believing God still worked through big miracles. Not because He changed—but because pain changed the way I saw Him.

After experiencing deep hurt from people I trusted, I began doubting the very calling God had placed on my life. Words wounded me. Conversations broke me. Rejection made me question whether I had heard God correctly at all.

For a long time, I carried those wounds quietly.

What hurt the most was not just the disappointment—it was the internal battle that followed. Fear crept in. Anxiety grew louder. Discouragement tried to silence the purpose God had spoken over me.

The enemy has a way of using wounds to make us question our identity and assignment. But God never changes His mind about the purpose He places inside of us.

“The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” — Romans 11:29

Healing did not happen overnight. It took over a year for me to truly begin coming out of that dark place. But little by little, God began restoring my heart.

One day, I realized healing had taken place when I could finally talk to my husband about those painful moments without crying. What once triggered overwhelming pain no longer held the same power over me.

That’s what healing from God does. It doesn’t erase the memory, but it removes the chains attached to it.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

God showed me that I had spent too much time staring at the wounds instead of looking at Him. He gently reminded me to lift my eyes again.

To trust again.

To believe again.

To surrender again.

The hurt was never meant to define me.

A little over a year later, God spoke something unexpected to my heart: Go back and get the others.

Go back for the ones carrying silent wounds.

Go back for the ones who feel forgotten.

Go back for the ones questioning their worth and purpose because of what they walked through.

Immediately, I thought about Jesus leaving the ninety-nine to go after the one.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?” — Luke 15:4

Sometimes the “one” is the person no one noticed was hurting.

The one silently battling rejection.

The one carrying pain from relationships, family, friendships, church, or life itself.

The one who stopped believing God could still use them.

The one who feels unseen, forgotten, and disqualified.

But heaven never forgets the one.

God began showing me that my pain was not wasted. What the enemy meant to silence me, God wanted to use to help others heal.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

If you are walking through hurt right now, I want you to know this:

God still sees you.

God still loves you.

And God still has purpose for your life.

Do not allow pain to convince you that your calling disappeared. Wounds may delay you, but they do not cancel what God has spoken.

Healing is possible.

Restoration is possible.

And purpose still remains.

Maybe one day, just like me, you’ll look back and realize the tears no longer come when you speak about what hurt you.

That’s when you’ll know:

God was healing you all along.

Love,

Tricia
