Ten Days Until Christmas: Listening for the Still Small Voice

With just ten days until Christmas, I find my heart pausing—not rushing, not striving, but listening.
There is a still small voice whispering beneath the noise of the season. A voice not found in chaos or pressure, but in quiet surrender. It’s the same voice Elijah heard, not in the wind, not in the earthquake, not in the fire, but in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11–12).
What is He whispering to you?
Is He calling you into a season of rest, where your soul finally exhales?
Is He asking you to release what you were never meant to carry?
Is He stirring your heart toward a new assignment, a new ministry, a deeper yes?
As we prepare not only for Christmas but for the year ahead, may we remember that true preparation doesn’t begin with planning, it begins with presence.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
—Psalm 46:10
This is a season to linger in His Word, to kneel in honest prayer, and to lift our voices in praise, not because everything is perfect, but because He is faithful. The Father has blessed us in ways seen and unseen, far beyond what we could ever imagine.
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
—Psalm 103:2
Perhaps it’s time to put down the magnifying glass , the one that enlarges what we don’t have, what we’re waiting for, and the people or circumstances that seem bigger than they truly are. When we magnify those things, they steal our peace and distort our perspective.
Instead, may we pick up the mirror.
Not to criticize ourselves, but to invite God to search us gently and truthfully.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
—Psalm 139:23
Lord, what needs to change in me?
Show me where I can grow.
Refine my heart.
Teach me how to serve You and Your Kingdom with humility and love.
This is not a prayer of weakness, it is a prayer of courage. Because when we allow God to work within us, everything around us begins to shift.
As Christmas approaches and a new year stands quietly at the door, may we choose reflection over rush, obedience over noise, and surrender over control. May we listen closely for His whisper, and respond with a willing heart.
“Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.”
—1 Samuel 3:10
With love,
Tricia
