You can ask my family—I’ve never been one to make a big deal about my birthday. I don’t really know why, it’s just how I’ve always been.
But something feels different this year.
In just four days, I’ll turn 60… and for the first time, I feel this bubbling excitement rising in me. Not because of the number—but because of what I sense God is about to do.
I believe with all my heart that the years ahead will be the most fruitful, anointed, purpose-filled years of my life. I feel Him whispering,
“You haven’t seen anything yet.”
“They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright; He is my Rock.’”
—Psalm 92:14–15
I believe I’m going to witness miracles—real, undeniable moves of God. I’ll see chains break. I’ll see the blind finally begin to see. I’ll see hearts turn, prodigals return, and obedience rise like fire in the souls of those who once gave up.
And I get a front row seat.
What a gift.
What a holy privilege.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”
—Luke 4:18
There’s a new assignment ahead. I don’t know all the details yet, but I know this: I’m ready. And I’m running into it with joy.
It’s funny—when I run races, I always start off a little slow. I warm up, find my rhythm. But when I see the finish line? I dig deep. I press harder. I finish faster than I started.
That’s how I want to finish this race God has given me.
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…”
—Hebrews 12:1–2
No slowing down. No backing off. Not now.
The best is yet to come.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”
—Philippians 1:6
Let’s go.
