Taking Back Spiritual Authority: Reclaiming What Control Tried to Steal

A message for the Ministry with Coffee family
There are moments when God interrupts our routines to restore what has quietly been compromised.
One evening, while sitting at dinner with pastors, our conversation turned toward a teaching on the Jezebel spirit. As one pastor described it as the most insightful explanation he had ever heard, something in my spirit came alive. I sensed the Lord drawing me in, not just to listen, but to respond. What God began to reveal was not meant to create fear, but to help me take back authority.
Sometimes God doesn’t shout. He invites.
Understanding the Battle for Authority
The Jezebel spirit is not about a person or gender, it is about authority. Scripture shows us this influence works to replace God’s order with control, manipulation, and intimidation.
Its goal is subtle but destructive:
• To weaken spiritual authority
• To create confusion and division
• To silence truth through fear or pressure
But what the enemy attempts to steal, Jesus has already given us authority to reclaim.
Recognize Where Authority Was Given Away
As I prayed, the Lord showed me places where I had unknowingly surrendered authority, through fear of conflict, people-pleasing, or trying to keep peace at any cost.
He also revealed relationships marked by consistent patterns that brought confusion or pressure. God made it clear that discernment is not optional, it is protective.
Taking back authority begins with one honest question:
Where have I allowed control to replace trust in God?
Discern the Pattern Without Accusation
This is not about labeling people—it’s about recognizing patterns.
Common traits include:
• A need to control outcomes or conversations
• Emotional pressure used to influence decisions
• Resistance to accountability
• Confusion rather than clarity
Recognizing these traits is not judgment. It is wisdom.
Reclaim Authority Through Boundaries
God showed me something freeing: love does not require access.
We can love people deeply while guarding the influence they have over our lives. Taking back authority often means setting prayerful boundaries, not out of anger, but obedience.
Boundaries restore peace.
Renounce and Realign
Authority is restored when we realign our hearts with Christ.
Through prayer, I learned to release control, renounce unhealthy influence, and place every relationship back into God’s hands. What we surrender to Him, He faithfully orders.
Guarding What God Restores
Taking back authority is not a moment, it’s a posture.
It’s choosing humility daily.
It’s staying rooted in prayer.
It’s refusing to return to unhealthy patterns.
Healthy families and ministries are built on submitted authority, not control.
Declaration
In the name of Jesus, I take back the authority God has given me. I renounce every influence of control, manipulation, fear, and intimidation. I choose surrender, truth, and peace. Jesus alone is Lord over my life, my family, and my ministry. I trust God with every relationship and guard my heart as He leads me forward.
Loved,
Tricia
